Everyone Has Their Own Hair Removal Method!

There are different methods of regular hair removal—waxes, tweezers, threads (the latter being less familiar to me). Each has distinct characteristics and can be used on different parts of the body, depending on the technique.

Why Choose a Particular Hair Removal Method, and Which Wax to Use?

Warm Wax:
Its texture is more or less creamy and is applied using a spatula. The technician then uses a cotton or pellon strip, presses it onto the wax to adhere to the hair, and removes it in a single motion with a lateral pull. This removes both the hair shaft and root.
This method is often used for large areas like legs, thighs, and arms. Its main feature is that it is relatively easy to use. It comes in various scents and textures. It allows for quick and precise hair removal. Its greatest strength is that it can remove even the shortest regrowth.
Most estheticians offer this technique, as it allows them to cover large areas in a short amount of time, which can be very convenient for clients in a hurry. Costs vary depending on the area and region of the body being waxed.

Hot Wax:
This is applied using a wooden spatula or a small stick. It is only slightly hotter than warm wax. It is removed without a strip, always in a single lateral motion. The more precise the technique, the better the final result. It also removes the root and a significant percentage of the hair follicles.
It is used on smaller areas, such as underarms, bikini line, upper lip, eyebrows, etc. It is known for being relatively painless and reducing hair regrowth faster than warm wax. However, this method is generally more expensive. It requires greater skill and is not mastered by all estheticians. Those with extensive experience are usually very comfortable with this technique.

Egyptian or Sugar Wax:
This technique is a 100% natural solution. It can be used on all areas of the face and body. It is ideal for clients with allergic or reactive skin. It removes the root and 85% of the follicles. The sensation varies greatly from person to person; however, some people find it more comfortable than warm wax.
It is the most expensive method and requires the most time to achieve proper results. Very few estheticians practice this method, but some specialized salons focus solely on this technique. Like hot wax, it has the advantage of reducing hair regrowth more quickly than warm wax. Clients with reactive skin or allergies to traditional wax components often opt for this method.

Tweezers:
We are all familiar with tweezers. Estheticians use them extensively to refine and shape eyebrow lines. They are also used to complete hair removal in areas with short regrowth or ingrown hairs. They use different types of tweezers to handle all sorts of problem areas.
A well-trained esthetician will always ensure their tools are cleaned immediately before use and will disinfect and sterilize their tweezers immediately after each session.
Be cautious in this regard. You should be wary of places offering services that are too cheap. It’s logical—if it’s extremely inexpensive, do you think they can afford all the products and equipment needed for proper disinfection? Do you also believe they have enough tools to wait the required disinfection time before using them again?

In Summary:
Centers that employ well-trained estheticians remain the best choice for these types of services. When choosing your salon, don’t rely solely on price. Even though hair removal is a basic service in any beauty center, a well-performed hair removal treatment using quality products in a hygienic and safe environment should be your top priority.

Happy Spring and Summer!
